In its broadcast yesterday, Tuesday, April 21, 2026, the ARD program MONITOR once again reported on scandalous conditions, focusing on the meat giant Westfleisch.
Many workers in the meat industry now come from India, China, or Vietnam. They often pay several thousand euros to recruitment agencies and go into heavy debt in order to be able to work in Europe.
But the reality in Germany is often a nightmare: harsh working conditions, low wages, and little protection for workers. Anyone who gets sick or complains risks losing their job—and is left stuck with their debts.
